Admission Requirements for the Armstrong and Statesboro Campuses

Joining Eagle Nation is a straightforward process that begins with meeting Georgia Southern鈥檚 admission requirements. Explore each step of the first-year application process.

As you submit your application, you may either pay the $30 nonrefundable application fee online or upload an eligible fee waiver. We accept official application fee waivers from College Board, ACT and NACAC. .

If you graduated from high school five or more years prior to your intended enrollment date, Georgia Southern considers you a nontraditional student. .

Note: The 橘子视频 Office of Undergraduate Admissions will only maintain a record of nonenrolling student test scores and transcripts for five years. Admission applications and fees are kept active for one year. After one year, students must reapply for consideration.

After submitting your first-year application, send your high school transcript! We can make admission decisions using unofficial transcripts, or they can be sent by your high school.

In processing transcripts, the Office of Admissions recalculates GPAs based on the . Consequently, your GPA may appear lower than expected as we do not include classes such as art, drama or theater in our calculations.

Georgia Southern encourages students to maintain a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher in the 17 Required High School Curriculum specified courses for admission purposes. However, all applicants, regardless of GPA, will undergo evaluation for admission.

To ensure you are on track to complete the Required High School Curriculum, we must review a list of all courses you are taking during your senior year of high school if you are still enrolled. You can provide this information on your transcript, on your admission application or .

If you have a high school GPA of less than 3.2, you should submit SAT or ACT scores along with your official high school transcript for admission consideration. You must submit official SAT or ACT scores to Georgia Southern directly from the testing agency.

First-year students with a high school GPA of 3.2 or higher who apply to Georgia Southern through the summer 2026 semester are eligible for admission without an ACT or SAT score.

Still need to take the SAT or ACT? Access available test dates with the or . We also offer the ACT-On Campus at the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses for students who have already applied to Georgia Southern. Learn more and register with Testing Services. Georgia Southern鈥檚 SAT and ACT codes are:

Georgia Southern would like students to have the following test scores 鈥 however, we evaluate all applicants regardless of test scores.

SAT

  • Evidence-Based Reading & Writing: 480+
  • Math: 440+

ACT

  • English or Reading: 17+
  • Math: 17+

Note: We will utilize your highest subtest scores from all scores received to evaluate your application. If you submit scores and then take the test again, you may submit the new scores for us to review. We will reassess your file and make a new decision based on the updated scores.

We post all admission decisions online, enabling you to know your acceptance status without needing to wait for a letter.

At Georgia Southern, we admit spring, summer and fall term applicants on a rolling basis starting in September. We notify students who will not be admitted beginning in November.

Liberty Campus Admissions

Interested in attending Georgia Southern at our , a small, non-residential campus in Hinesville, Georgia geared toward commuters? The Office of Admissions can admit any incoming first-year student to the Liberty campus as long as they have earned a high school diploma.

However, if admitted without meeting the admission criteria for the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses, students must complete 30 or more credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and address any deficiencies in the Required High School Curriculum before transitioning to the Statesboro or Armstrong campuses.

Other First-Year Student Requirements

Are you planning to apply as a dual enrollment, homeschool or GED student? In addition to Georgia Southern鈥檚 standard first-year admission requirements, keep the following in mind for your application:

If you have participated in another institution鈥檚 dual enrollment program while in high school, you must send official transcripts from each college, even if the courses are on your high school transcript. We will not award earned college credit without these transcripts. Additionally, failure to submit these transcripts could result in delays in financial aid or your ability to alter your schedule once enrolled at Georgia Southern.

Interested in participating in taking courses at Georgia Southern as a high school student? .

As a student from an accredited homeschool program, you must apply to and meet first-year admission criteria for Georgia Southern.

If you’re graduating from a nonaccredited homeschool or high school, you must still meet Georgia Southern鈥檚 first-year admission requirements. However, you can demonstrate your graduation and completion of the Required High School Curriculum in alternative ways, such as through a course portfolio. For further details, .

If you received a GED, we are unable to admit you as a traditional first-year student to the Armstrong or Statesboro campus. In order to be accepted to those campuses, you must apply as an adult or nontraditional learner.
